FAQ

1. Can I buy a DETOMASO watch or bracelet in a retail store?

No, currently we sell direct to consumers through our webstore only. We do this to keep down the prices involved with retail stores. It allows us to give you the best price by cutting out the middle man.

2. How do I order a watch or a bracelet?

You have already completed the first step by visiting our web shop. If you navigate to the top of the page simply click on “Watches, “or “Straps.” Here you will find all our watches and straps available for purchase.

Once you find a watch or strap you like, click the “shop” icon and it will open the product in a new page. Here you can review the product details and select the strap you’d like for your watch or buckle color if shopping for a strap. Once you’re all set click “add to cart” to be redirected to the checkout process.

On the next page you will review your cart and enter your billing and shipping information. Click “Continue” to advance onto the payment page. And you’re all set!

3. I have a discount code - where can I enter it?

Most promo codes will be automatically applied and shown with the reduced discounted price and percentage. However, in the event you have a special voucher, please follow the steps below

Once you have chosen something beautiful; you can simply click on "Order Now." On the following page, below where we list the item in your cart, you will find a box "Enter Voucher Code”. Simply enter or paste your code in this box and click “APPLY.” You will now see the updated price in the Order Review Box below.

4. How can I check that my order was successful?

When the order is complete, you will receive a confirmation email. If you have not heard anything within 24 hours, please check your spam or junk folders. If you find nothing simply send an email to service@detomasowatches.com with your name and shipping address. One of our Customer Champions will then be able to locate your order and provide you with the current order status.

5. How do I know that my order has been shipped?

Once your order has processed it will move to our fulfillment team who will create your shipping label. Once the label has been created, you will receive an email letting you know we have shipped it with a copy of your packing slip and tracking number.

6. What are the shipping costs?

There aren’t any! We provide free shipping on all orders!

However, if you would like to expediate your order with express shipping or have a signature confirmation, you can choose that option for an additional fee.

7. How long does shipping take?

On orders with Free Shipping we use USPS First Class Mail.  If you opted to pay USPS Registered Mail, it will be sent with a signature reqired for delivery. Orders with paid Express Shipping will be shipped in 1-2 business days using USPS Priority Mail Express.

Orders that ship to Canada will be delivered using FedEx International Connect Plus.

Please Note: Due to COVID 19, the US Post Office and FedEx may experience delays in the delivery of your order due to staffing shortages.

8. Can I try on the watch first and return it if necessary?

As you try it on at home for the first time, you can take a closer look at the watch and proudly show it off to your friends. If it turns out that you do not like it (for any reason), you can return it within 30 days. Of course, the watch must still be in new, unworn condition.

The same applies to our straps however, they still need to be in a new condition for a return as well. In other words, you may not want to experiment too much with the strap. It may be best to take it easy and keep stunts to a minimum when trying it on.

If you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase for any reason, simply send us e-mail at service@detomasowatches.com that you wish to return the watch and we can arrange for you to send it for a refund through our returns portal. You may also visit our returns page to begin the returns process yourself through our returns portal to obtain a mailing label.

9. Can immediately cancel my order?

While we would be disappointed to see you cancel, you can request a full cancellation of your order prior to shipping. If you have not yet received a shipment confirmation, you can contact us to cancel your order.

In the event your order has already shipped, simply wait for the package to arrive, and then send it back to us. All you’ll need to do once it arrives, is e-mail us at service@detomasowatches.com and we’ll arrange for a return.

10. What should I do if my order is damaged or faulty?

DETOMASO watches and bracelets are only dispatched after a comprehensive quality control. If something still does not fit, please send an e-mail to service@detomasowatches.com with a picture and a description of the problem. Our Customer Champions will then rectify the issue and find a winning solution.

11. How can I check that my return has arrived?

Once we have received your return, you will receive a confirmation email. This can sometimes take a few days to process. If you have not heard from us or received a refund credit on your account after 14 days, please check if the email has ended up in your spam folder. If not, please send an e-mail to service@detomasowatches.com and our Customer Champions can confirm it for you.

We always recommend keeping the USPS receipt for the return shipment. If the parcel is lost on its way, it can be easily found on the receipt with the tracking number.

12. What are the payment methods?

DETOMASO accepts Credit Card and PayPal payments.

13. What do I need to know about tax?

We are required by state and federal authorities to collect sales tax during checkout. Based on your location you will be charged the state and county defined sales tax rate. We collect and remit these tax payments at the specific periods as defined by the state of Pennsylvania. For further information please refer to the recent ruling in the South Dakota vs. Wayfair case.

14. Do you offer a warranty? How long does it last and what does it cover?

The warranty covers any potential manufacturing defects and applies to both the watch and the strap. The warranty period of 24 months begins at time of purchase. During this period, we will rectify any defects free of charge.

The warranty does not cover batteries, wear and tear of the case, glass and strap, or damage resulting from improper use (e.g. accident, broken glass, water damage, disconnected crown, mishandling while changing the battery).

All replaced watches will come with an extended 12-month limited warranty from time of replacement and will be based on the terms and conditions above.

15. What metal is used for the watch case?

We use the highest quality materials to ensure you receive the best product possible. Our watch cases are made of a sandblasted stainless steel, more precisely 316L Surgical Steel. The glass is Sapphire-hardened mineral glass. We use a special process to apply this synthetic sapphire coating which creates a scratch-resistant layer on the glass.

17. Where do DETOMASO watches come from?

DETOMASO watches carry the momentum of the most diverse cultures and nations within them: designed in the heart of Europe in Germany, equipped with precision movements of the Japanese brand manufacturer MIYOTA and with the finest leather straps from the partner manufactory in Italy. Inspired and carried by the idea of personal freedom, this mix guarantees extraordinary design and the absolute highest quality.

18. Which movements are used?

All DETOMASO models are equipped with a precision movement from the Japanese brand manufacturer MIYOTA. They are extremely precise, durable and require no maintenance.

19. How does an Automatic Watch Movement Work?

“Automatic” is just another term for “self-winding”, meaning the watch winds itself using a weight inside the watch, that oscillates to put tension on the mainspring through the random motion of the watch wearer’s arm. Batteries not included or needed! And you do not have to risk carpal tunnel syndrome by winding them every morning using the crown either!

20. How long does an Automatic movement charge last?

The automatic movement has a power reserve of up to 40 hours and is dependent upon the length and activity of the user. The longer and more active you are wearing your watch the longer it will charge the power reserve. If you are only wearing the watch for short periods of time or being dormant while wearing it, the watch will not be able to get the proper charge to the power reserve and may need to be set more frequently. Additionally, you may need to tighten the main spring by winding the watch.

21. How do I wind my automatic movement?

If you do not wear your watch for a period lasting longer than 40 hours, you’ll need to wind the watch. To begin the winding process set the crown in the normal position

Approximately 30 full rotations are needed for a complete winding. Start by turning the crown clockwise 1 turn. Repeat this until you approach about 30 rotations. As you reach the 30 rotations, you’ll feel a slight resistance which alerts you are nearing completion. Continue turning until you can no longer rotate the crown happening at about 30 rotations.

22. How Do I change the Date on my watch?

Sorpasso: Pull the crown out to the 1st position. Turn the crown clockwise until the correct date is displayed in the center of the display window. Push the crown back into the normal position.

Viaggio: Pull the crown out to the 1st Position. Turn the crown counterclockwise until the correct date is displayed in the center of the display window. Push the crown back into the normal position.

Please note if you are setting the date between 9pm and 1 am, the date will not change on the following day and will have to be set manually.

23. A watch or bracelet is indicated as sold out. How do I know when it will available again?

If you would like to know the status of a watch or bracelet you simply need to email our Customer Champions at service@detomasowatches.com and they’ll be happy to fill you in on the details.

24. Are DETOMASO watches water-resistant?

All DETOMASO watches are water-resistant to 5 ATM/50m/150FT. This means that it can withstand water splashes and you can leave it on when washing your hands without any problems. If you shower, you should take it off as leather generally does not like moisture.

25. How long does the battery last?

On average, the watch runs with a new battery for 18-24 months.

26. How can I change the battery?

We always recommend taking the watch to a local professional. Changing the battery requires special tools and improper use can damage the watch. No worries a professional should be able to easily handle the repair.

You may also send it back to our US Fulfillment center to be replaced for a small fee. Simply contact service@detomasowatches.com to get the process started

Please note any damage to the watch or movement incurred during improper handling when changing the battery by the user, would result in a full void of the warranty.

27. What type of battery does my watch use?

Partenza Models: Button Cell 364 / SR621SW

Sorpasso Models: Button Cell 395 / SR927SW or Button Cell 399 / SR927W, either will work fine.

28. I damaged my watch. How and where can I have it repaired?

DETOMASO watches are designed to last the test of time. However, if you do manage to damage your watch please send an email to our Customer Champions at service@detomasowatches.com with a description and photo if necessary of the problem. Please be as specific as possible. Our customer champions will then complete an assessment and then follow up to let you know about your repair options, if possible.

29. What is the material of the straps?

DETOMASO leather straps are made of 100% vegetable-dyed cowhide leather. They are lovingly handcrafted in a small factory in Italy.

DETOMASO mesh straps are made of the best, anti-allergenic stainless steel. The tightly woven stainless steel allows both high flexibility and stability - creating an unmatched level of comfort.

30. What is so special about vegetable tanning?

This means that no heavy metals, no chromium, and no other harmful substances are used in its treatment. Moreover, there is no other sealant in which chemicals are used. This is not only good for the environment, but also makes the leather particularly anti-allergenic. The natural breathability is also retained during vegetable tanning. The wearing comfort is correspondingly high. By the way, each bracelet is truly unique: because it is a natural product, each bracelet looks a little different from the other. In addition, the leather forms an individual patina over time.

31. Does the coloring of the leather rub off or run

Only in exceptional cases can the tapes give off some color if they get very wet and are pressed hard. The bracelet should be taken off when showering, bathing or in particularly sweaty situations. If it gets wet, keep it away from your clothes and let it dry. If there is discoloration on your skin, you can be sure that only dyes that are completely harmless have been used and that you can remove with a little water and soap.

32. What is the length of the bracelets?

The straps can be adjusted between 170mm to 230mm so the watch will fit just about any size wrist.

33. How do I adjust the size of my mesh strap?

Place a small screwdriver into the square hole on the clasp and loosen the clasp by carefully prying it upwards from the holder. Now you can move the clasp. Use the grooves on the underside of the strap until you find the desired length. Once you have the desired length, secure the clasp. To do so, press down the lever until it snaps back into place in its original position.

34. How do I fasten my mesh strap?

Hang the two hooks on the underside of the buckle onto the bar of the clasp mechanism at the other end of your watch strap. Press the clasp cover down and secure with the smaller clasp cover.

35. Can the bracelet on DETOMASO watches be changed?

DETOMASO watches are designed with interchangeable straps using quick release pins. You can change your bracelet to fit your mood, the occasion, or just match it to your outfit!

36. How do I change out the straps?

You will find a small pin on the reverse side of both halves of the strap. Carefully press the pin inwards and remove the strap with ease. If you want to attach an interchangeable strap, all you must do is…are you ready? repeat the same steps, but in reverse!

37. Can I use bracelets from other manufacturers?

If you think you can find straps nicer than ours somewhere else, then go for it! While very few are equipped with a change mechanism, any watchmaker or jeweler can attach a new strap to the watch in no time.

38. How long do the bracelets last?

It varies from person to person depending on the use. On average a leather strap will last about 2 years but after that, it should be changed. While we use fine Italian leather, eventually it will show signs of age and wear.

39. What is so special about the packaging?

DETOMASO watches are carefully packaged for every order. The package includes a protective outer carton, the product information with use instructions, and the warranty certificate. It’s important that you receive the watch in good care but also that we take care of the environment. Our packaging only uses environmentally friendly materials from Italy.
